Below are the states that the SMNP is present in:
New Delhi (NDMC): Through EESL’s smart metering project, NDMC became the first utility to have all their consumers with smart meters. This programme was successful in connecting more than 56,000 consumers with smart meters, resulting in increase of average monthly revenue per consumer by Rs.500. And a billing percentage of above 99% during lockdown.
Uttar Pradesh: UP has the largest footprint of smart meters, with a deployment of more than 11.2 lakh smart meters, which are currently operational in 12 cities, with another 8 cities in the pipeline. The Hon’ble Energy Minister of Uttar Pradesh kick-started the campaign to install prepaid smart meters at the residence of officials and ministers from his own residence. Pre-paid smart meters will enable users to pay as per their financial convenience and consumption.
Haryana: SMNP commenced its journey with the installation of the 1st Smart meter in Haryana on 7th March 2019. As on date more than 1.6 lakh consumers have smart meters installed in areas like Karnal, Gurugram, Panchkula and Panipat.
Bihar: Bihar was one of the first states to start the roll out of pre-paid meters. Currently more than 71 thousand smart prepaid meters have been installed and are operational in urban areas, with around 3,500 in agricultural areas.
Rajasthan: The deployment of 2, 93,000 smart meters have begun in Ajmer and Jodhpur. As of now, the smart meter IT implementation is under progress, including integration of MDM with DISCOM legacy billing system.
Andaman & Nicobar: An agreement has been signed between EESL and A&N Administration for replacing all 76,000 conventional meters in the UT with smart meters. All 76,000 meters have been delivered to the UT.
UT of Jammu & Kashmir: The EESL team has presented its smart meter deployment plan to the J&K Power Department officials and submitted MoU for signing. The smart meter deployment shall commence shortly upon signing of the MoU.
